Teaching and Learning

Welcome!

Dear Park View Families,

I am both honored and humbled to serve the Morton Grove School District community as the Director of Professional Development and Curriculum. District 70’s teaching and learning is designed to provide each of our students with the opportunity to engage in a rigorous curriculum with challenging academic standards to achieve our purpose, “Ensure all Park View students will learn at high levels.”  We believe in educating the “whole child,” with a focus on both academic and social emotional needs.  By supporting our staff through instructional programming, which includes curriculum, instruction, professional development, and assessment, we are able to work collaboratively to ensure we are meeting the diverse needs of our students.

As a Professional Learning Community, every decision we make is through the lens of four critical questions:

  • What is it we want each student to learn and be able to do?
  • How will we know if each student has learned it?
  • How will we respond when a student does not learn it?
  • How can we extend and enrich the learning for students who have demonstrated proficiency?
  • These questions drive our instruction and response to student learning needs, and we are proud of our Professional Learning Community (PLC) Model district distinction.

I appreciate the opportunity to be on this journey with you. I know that by working together we can create a learning environment where our students can achieve excellence on their academic path. If you have any questions, or anything I can be of assistance with, please reach out to me.

Warmly,

Nikki Kerr
Director of Professional Development and Curriculum
