PTO Sponsored Events and Programs
As a result of the PTO's fundraising efforts, we are able to sponsor many events and activities for the Park View school community. There are however, numerous other programs and purchases that the PTO provides, but listed below are a sampling.
We are also very thankful for the many dedicated committee chairs and volunteers for these programs.   Without them, the PTO could not function!  If you are interested in volunteering, please complete the volunteer form  available online or contact Elma Haliti at [email protected]
The Park View school PTO sponsors performances such as Boom Troupe and Motivational Productions.  These programs are designed to inspire, motivate, and challenge young people to make healthy choices and develop strong character.
The PTO sponsors a visit from a children’s' author and an illustrator. The published professional makes a presentation to each grade level, covering topics such as; how information is researched for a book, how much their artwork has improved over years of practice and specific strategies for how students can improve their writing skills. Over the years the author/illustrator program has proven to be a meaningful enrichment program for the students at Park View School.
Family Breakfasts (Spring)
Breakfasts are held before school on two Fridays in the spring.  It’s a great opportunity for families to share time together.  Many volunteers are needed for this event.
Family Fun Fair (September)
This event is held during on a Saturday in September with games, food and MORE!  It is a great way to relax, have some fun and get to know the Park View community.  All are invited!
Field Trips (ongoing)
Throughout the school year, classes take field trips to various Chicagoland locations to enrich the Park View School curriculum. In many cases, the PTO helps defer the cost of transportation and also provides financial assistance for students in need.
Kindergarten and New Family Welcome (August)
The PTO sponsors an Ice Cream Social in August before school begins for Kindergarten students, new students to Park View and their families. At this time, current Park View families will assist with questions and offer insight and information regarding school functions and common procedures. They also provide tours of the building.
Picture Day (September and April)
School pictures are scheduled for each September and April. The PTO coordinates volunteers to assist the teachers, administration, and photographers as needed.
PTO Socials (ongoing)
The PTO Socials bring teachers and parents together in a fun, relaxed gathering. They are a wonderful opportunity to meet other Park View families and get to know many of the Park View teachers. The location/dates of these events vary from year to year.
Room Parents (ongoing)
Each year, the PTO helps recruit and organize Room Parents for each classroom teacher. Room Parents are responsible for helping organize class parties, sharing PTO information with the parents, and supporting the classroom teacher as needed. Room Parents are recruited each spring for the following school year.
Scholastic Book Fair (Conferences)
The Scholastic Book Fair is held during teacher conferences in February at Park View School and is set up in the Multi-Purpose Room for two days. A large number of parent volunteers help to set up the book fair and provide assistance to students during the book fair. Students, parents, and staff are able to purchase new books, pencils, and novelty items at a discounted rate. The Book Fair provides an opportunity for students to enjoy and choose new and exciting books. The PTO does not receive any funds from the sale of these books.  Instead, the proceeds go right back to the school by obtaining credit vouchers to shop for products for the classrooms and libraries.
Teacher Appreciation Luncheon (August)
A welcome back luncheon for the teachers and staff is hosted by the PTO the week before school starts in August.  We also have other sponsored events for the teachers during the school year such as treats at conferences and gifts in May.
